Towards an intolerant revolutionary unionised struggle!

The government of “New Democracy”, continuing exactly the same policy as PASOK (the previous so-called socialist government), brings laws about the third level of education (universities).

Workers, Farmers, Students

The government of “New Democracy”, continuing exactly the same policy as PASOK (the previous so-called socialist government), brings laws about the third level of education (universities) which:

• Intensify the studies with the restriction of transfer of subjects and the expulsion of those who do not take a Degree during “their time”.

• Legalise the foundation of private universities.

• Establish more links between the enterprises (multinationals) and the universities.

• Evaluate the university staff (lecturers, tutors etc) under (political) party criteria (preference).

• “Split” the Degrees by creating specialised Faculties, attacking at the same time against all the workers’ rights which have been won until now.

• Admit the young people into a continuous education process and also into a bigger competition between them.

• Create the conditions for restriction of student unionism by manufacturing students-“cogwheels” of the capitalistic system, tamed machines and not really educated people.

This process is the adaptation in the European directives. In combination with the attack against the workers’ rights, the increase of hours of work, the reduction of wages and pension benefits and the bosses' right to fire whoever they like. State and Capital started this attack for a bigger profitability and power. Henceforth the university students will be in uncertainty, regardless if they have passed in “good” Univeristy Faculties and wait for a “good” re-establishment of their future.

The authorities are not kidding - and we see this through the arrogance of government ministers and their allies - as they promote the proletarisation of bigger sections of the population. Simultaneously, with the help of government employees in the controlled trade unions and with the corporate unionism, the exploited are multiple-splitted, trying to make impossible the class solidarity that is asked in order to overthrow the present situation.

We have to draw conclusions. As long as the student struggle continue for only “strong” Degrees, away from the production areas, away from the workers, the farmers, the other exploited and oppressed, it is something that plays the game of the government. It is what they are waiting for, to engage in just single and corporate struggles.

The only solution is the united class struggle, along with the workers, the unemployed, the poor. We should undertake an action by ourselves. In the current circumstances, the students should unionised taking their affair in their own hands, participating actively by themselves and no assign the struggle in the political parties and go holidays. However, this is not enough.

We should function in a unionised but also in a revolutionary way. No, we must not struggle for only “strong” Degrees in order to practise power on the workers later, but to demand equality of the wages of all workers - graduated or not - and a better life quality for all.

The only competition that we must accept is the class competition against the employers, the government and the State who are the only responsible for the current social misery and individual isolation.

Only with this line of sailing we can wait for victories. When the government undestands that we are organised and give the battle all together by class struggle, then it will take all back. It will become here as in France during the previous months. Then the government will begin the political manoeuvres, but we never should wait from it to become a defender of our interests; it will always be a supporter of the interests of sovereign classes.

Our class action should not stop with the withdrawal of these laws which are just one step outside of our door. It should be continued, extending it in all the spectrum of the society, coiling together more and more people, up to the final victory!
