Since July 31, 2017

An urgent response needs to be taken by activists and solidarity groups in EU and the rest of the world to demand the freedom the hunger strikers and immediate access to medical care for them.

Statement by Arash Hampay since July 31, 2017

Behrooz Arash is dying. He sent me a voice message yesterday in which he was saying that his skin is falling off his body. We have been worried about his situation for a long time now. The body gets damaged after the loss of 10 % of the body weight. Behrooz has lost far more than that. He was 60 kilograms when he started his hunger strike. The last time he was weighed he was 44 kilograms. That happened last week. It means more than 30 % of his body weight.

We expected the police to respond to all the demands from the doctors, the lawyers and others to take both Behrooz Arash and Kozhin Hussein to the hospital but they have not been taken there. WE expected from them that they do care about the survival of the hunger strikers, that they do value their lives, but we were wrong. Until this very moment, they are locked inside and prevented by the police to get any access to medical care or vitamins. Without medical care in this very critical situation.

Behrooz Arash also told me that nothing regarding their eventual release would happen until 7th of August. He won´t survive until then. The greek government and the greek police is killing him. Whatever is going to happen to Behrooz and Kozhin they are responsible for that.

An urgent response needs to be taken by activists and solidarity groups in EU and the rest of the world to demand the freedom the hunger strikers and immediate access to medical care for them.
