Alternative Libertaire demands the immediate re-instatement of Amandine as well as an end to Virgin's anti-union policy, and we will accordingly be joining the solidarity actions. We invite everyone to take part in an assembly which will be held on Saturday December 23.
In his brief statement made on Friday 31st March, Jacques Chirac provided conflicting information: he was signing the law on "equal opportunities" into effect but stated that it required immediate modification. This apparent contradiction hides a manoeuvre - to divide and de-mobilize the movement against the CPE...
Three million demonstrators on Tuesday 28th March! And it was a weekday... so that's three million on strike! Both public-sector and private-sector employees realised how important it was to strike, in order to achieve the greatest number possible on the streets to express their total rejection of the CPE, and of precarious labour in general. But Monsieur de Villepin remains inflexible.
Yesterday, 400,000 people demonstrated against the "First Job Contract" [Contrat Première Embauche - CPE]. In order to defeat this plan, which will represent a social setback, Alternative Libertaire is calling for the mobilization to be extended.
As expected, the post-holiday period will be a lively one thanks to the fifth "reform" of the pensions system in twenty years! But this time, the left is in power! But far from reassuring us, this fact is cause for concern as we know how clever the Socialist Party (PS) is at quietly getting through parliament things that would make the right blush. Consider for a moment the massive privatizations of the Jospin government (the equivalent of €31 billion in four years against "only" €26 billion of the Balladur and Juppé governments in the previous four years!).
