Palestine-Israel

The tactic of tent(s) building direct actions continues with international,s but with Israelis only as media and support. The harsh escalation of suppression is expressed more in house demolitions than in direct action clashes, but even in the Friday demos we experienced an escalation of harassment by the state forces. Both in the Israeli media and the public arena the mounting international pressure and the stubborn refusal of the ruling elite to yield is bringing the aura of imminent disaster. The cracks within the ruling elite are expanding and threatening efforts to invest an increasing part of the national product in the settler colonialist project while recruiting the support of the organized orthodox Jewish parties by increasing benefits to their communities. South West Bank committee against settlement and apartheid wall

South West region Today, the South West Popular Committee along with international activists embarked on a new effort to establish a village, Canaan, on Palestinian land in South Hebron Hills. The village's name was not accidental. We wanted to declare that we are the indigenous people of Palestine. We are the descendants of the Canaanites and our ties to the land can never be broken or taken away. Early last night, various Palestinian activists from a wide array of villages in the South West Bank area along with international activists met in a home to discuss plans for the coming day. Signs were prepared which stated 'Our Land is Our Right', 'Canaan Village' and a declaration of intent which stated that "we are the sons and daughters of the Cananites, we establish Canaan Village on endangered Palestinian land." "We declare that it is our natural right to develop, reclaim, improve, use and live on all our lands free and without threat from occupiers/colonizers."

South West Bank Committee have organized a protest today 8/2/2013 to open the road connects Hebron with southern villages; hundreds of Palestinians have participated in this protest. This road was blocked by the Israeli occupation forces 10 years ago depriving 10s of thousands of Palestinians from using this main road as part of the Israeli occupation movement restriction movement imposed on Palestinians. Protesters chanted slogans against Israeli apartheid, in addition to slogans asking for the freedom of movement, and slogans calling for the release of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation jails. The protest was suppressed violently by the Israeli occupation forces.

Feb. 9, 2013: In the early morning hours, following a night of planning, we established Canaan as our first attempt, in the south of Yatta (the entrance to Twani). Within less than a minute, while we barely managed to establish the tent, an occupation jeep arrived. The occupation soldiers encircled us and told us we must leave. We refused to obey such a racist demand. An officer of the occupation army then went on to demolish our tent, steal our additional tents and equipment and violently prevent us from reclaiming our land and our belongings. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=501047813270234

Several hours later, we went on with a much larger group of activists, international supporters and an especially large number of journalists, to the east Yatta, near Ein Mai'in, Hazawai, we established a large tent and began building a room from stones of the land. Within half an hour, we were heavily encircled by at least 6 jeeps of the occupation forces. A large military vehicle which fires skunk water was brought in. We were told that we have 10 minuets to leave the area and that the land was a 'closed military zone'. We did not yield of course and were immediately showered upon by heavy skunk water. Occupation soldiers then went on to attack journalists and arrest them. They beat an elderly woman and other activists. In several instances, activists jumped in and prevented with their bodies the arrest of two people. After several hours of struggling with the occupation soldiers which numbered more than 50, 4 journalists, 8 Palestinians and 2 international activists were arrested, our tent was destroyed and we were prevented from returning to our land. For many hours during the hot afternoon, hundreds of activists remained in the area and demanded the right to return to the Canaan Village.

Bilin

This Friday in Bil'in: (Feb. 8, 416th weekly demonstration)
"There seems to be a tendency to escalation from the side of the army recently. Last week the soldiers started shooting gas from the moment the first cars could be seen nearing the demonstration area, perhaps because the rain made them eager to finish things early. This week gas was shot in high quantities and directly at people. The army slowed down the gas showers only after most peaceful demonstrators had been forced back, and the shabab took over with their stones covered by a favorable wind (as we know, stone throwers are a lesser threat to the army than people chanting slogans). When the shabab decided to head home, soldiered crossed the wall with the skunk truck, but didn't manage to provoke the shabab to return. The presence of Ashraf, who had been arrested in Burin last week, was greatly missed."

Nabi Saleh

Today's demonstration in Nabi Saleh is calling for the release of all Palestinian political prisoners and in support of Samer Issawi and all Palestinian political prisoners on hunger strike. Activists on the ground report that Israeli Occupation Forces have been firing non-stop teargas, rubber bullets and skunk. At least 4 people have been hit by rubber bullets and 2 with teargas canisters and many people overcome by the teargas.

Activists on the ground in Nabi Saleh are reporting that dozens of IOF entered the village for at least 30-40 minutes and have now withdrawn. While in village, the IOF fired lots of teargas, stun grenades, rubber bullets and skunk. Reports of journalists deliberately being targeted by IOF with teargas and stun grenades. Skunk also fired directly at houses. Reports of at least 10 people injured by rubber coated steel bullets and at least 2 by teargas canisters, including one hand injury as a result.

"Quite shaken after the last round of shooting in Nabi Saleh. The soldiers invaded the village, spraying skunk water, shooting rubber bullets, sound bombs and gas in every direction. We ran to hide inside a house, and they tried shooting several sound bombs into it, shaking the house, and those inside it."

Samer al-Issawi is a Palestinian political prisoner from 'Issawiyeh (Jerusalem), who has been on a hunger strike in Israel's prison for 202 days. Although released in a prisoner-swap deal in October 2011, Israel re-arrested Samer claiming he violated the terms of his release by leaving Jerusalem even though the place of his arrest was Hizmeh, which is within the Jerusalem municipal boundaries. Samer has been hunger striking since July 29, 2012, and according to recent reports his health has been fast deteriorating, putting his life in danger. Joining solidarity demonstrations in Palestine and all over the world, a group of Jaffa-based activists began a daily vigil in solidarity with Samer 'Issawi and all political prisoners at clock tower square, a famed local landmark. Protesters, both Palestinian and Jews, attended the second vigil, calling for the release of 'Issawi and all political prisoners, as well as putting an end to administrative detention as an illegal punitive measure by the state.

Another way to steal land from Palestinians is to declare that land as a National Park.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151689765629688
On Monday, 26th January, 2013, before sunrise, staff from the Israel National Parks Authority arrived with Municipality of Jerusalem workmen to Wadi Rababa in Silwan. They were escorted by Border Police, regular police, the dog unit and bulldozers. They broke into privately owned land and started demolishing fences, terraces, sheds and storerooms, and caused damage to ancient olive trees. They undertook work for the creation of a National Park that had been announced in the area.

During the activity they made their dogs attack Palestinians protesting the robbery of their land and damage to their property. Some were injured and some arrested.

By Zaher Baher from Haringey Solidarity Group and Kurdistan Anarchists Forum

Below is the outcome of my visit to Northern Kurdistan in Turkey between 02/11/14 to 08/11/14 as one of a delegation from United Kingdom, organised by Peace in Kurdistan Campaign (PIK), People’s Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Society Congress (DTK).

textPalestine-Israel - the joint struggle in turbulent times.* 02:03 Tue 11 Nov by Ilan S. 0 comments

The popular unarmed struggle of Palestinian communities joined by the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall and others is not a struggle for the "national liberation" or "self determination" of the Palestinian nation. It is the struggle of Palestinian people, of which the overwhelming majority are working people, against the threat of transfer and the suppression and exploitation by the Israeli Zionist settler colonialist project. None of those involved in the struggle who are not in the Palestinian elite have illusions about the Palestinian elite and the state they will rule and manage after the end of the occupation. None of those involved in the struggle believe that the end of the direct occupation will solve the 1948 Nakba and the refugee problems. However, they still prefer the end of the occupation and independence from Israel, over direct Israeli rule, as it will not be an agent of transfer or of such brutal suppression and exploitation. textPalestine-Israel - a struggle that never ends between Zionist settler colonialism and the indigenous... 14:25 Sun 20 Jul by Ilan S. 0 comments

The war on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip continues for the 13th day. Demonstrations against Israeli warmongering continue both in Israel and throughout the world. All that Israel wants in this war that it has initiated is to thwart a Palestinian unity government and curb the peace agreements it might speed up. The danger of Hamas' surrender to the Palestinian Authority in the heels of its economic crisis has resulted from the actions of the new Egyptian government, which seriously threatens the project of splitting the Palestinians, something that Israel has invested extraordinary efforts in. Only the total collapse of Hamas rule in Gaza scares Israel more than that. However, due to internal problems among the Israel political elite and public opinion, the government refrained from revealing the true nature of the war, which is to stabilize independent Hamas rule in Gaza and prevent the need for Hamas to surrender to the Palestinian Authority of the West Bank. So, instead the Israeli government has exaggerated the reports about attacks against Hamas and is hiding the real agenda - the obstruction of Palestinian unity. [Italiano]

When the European pressure on Israel to compromise with the Palestinian elite collected momentum - already diminishing exports, Israel tried to take advanced of the kidnapped three settlers youth applying "plans from the drawer" trying to ignite armed Intifada. Nearly three weeks of propaganda based on lies (as if they are searching for the already known to them to be dead three youth) was all over the media. When lastly the bodies were "found", lies were exposed, and the harassments failed to ignite Intifada. The mounted hate crimes of the Israeli extreme right and murder of a Palestinian youth of the annexed East Jerusalem ignited an extreme response there and within the Palestinian regions within the 1948 borders. Vicious harassment of US-Palestinian youth - cousin of the murdered youth which was video typed became together with the video of the kidnapped cousin became viral all over the world and ignited solidarity demos all over the world. Many objections were raised about the participation of Israelis in the non-armed struggle in the areas of Palestine occupied in the 1967 war. Some, mostly Palestinians, regarded it as a contribution to so called "normalization". Others claimed that Israeli activists should do their struggle within the Israeli population of the 1948 borders. Many anarchists raised reservations as the Palestinian popular struggle is a kind of capitalist "national independence struggle" for the self-determination of the Palestinian capitalist elite to monopolize the option for the exploitation of the Palestinian working masses - they just ignore the fact that most Palestinians wish for a bi-national democratic whole Palestine and not for a national Palestinian State. Others just do not take upon themselves the obligation to serve as a life-saving shield, as Israeli policy officially forbids the state forces to shoot to kill when Israelis are supposed to be among the demonstrators. Indigenous people struggle against settler colonialist transfer and marginalization is NOT the same as a national Bourgeoisie for "national independence" or "national self-determination". [Italiano]

textPalestine-Israel, The joint struggle activists insist in the efforts to change the world* 21:02 Mon 19 May by Ilan S. 0 comments

Week after week, on weekend and in the week-days to anarchists and other activists insist of leaning our Shoulders on the wheels of history that revolve too slow and push them as much as we can. There is not much of energy in the masses and many activists lost the urge to participate, but still many of us persist and join the meager efforts of the Palestinians who resist the advancing transfer efforts of the Israeli Zionist project and its state forces. The international solidarity activists who join us bring with them the echoes of world wide expanding support and the message that our struggle contribute a lot to it. The frustrated Israeli state forces continue their murderous efforts to extinguish the popular struggle adding live ammunition from time to time like the last week at the demo in Bitunia (near the Ofer concentration camp) but retreat under mounting international pressure. [Italiano]

textPalestine-Israel, The moment of truth is nearing, but short time considerations still block it* 03:25 Wed 07 May by Ilan S. 0 comments

The mounting pressure of world imperial powers seems to cause a section of Israel capitalist elite to accept the compromise offered by the Palestinian elite. Another section still want to delay the deal either to enjoy the short term gains or to improve the deal. They think that they can delay the settlement till the November election in the US with out any risk. Mean time the creeping transfer efforts continue mainly in the C areas of the occupied west bank and the suppression of Palestinian popular rebellion. The popular struggle continue both to slow the creeping transfer and to recruit international pressure to quicken the end of occupation. The joint struggle in the south Hebron hill help the Palestinian farmers Tsumud (persistence), in he Sheik Jarakh it help to curb the transfer in the East of Jerusalem. In Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Qaddum, and Ma'asara it help to freeze the murderous suppression of the popular struggle at large.

textPalestine-Israel, The joint struggle on the background of Israel preparation for withdrawal* 23:03 Tue 29 Apr by Ilan S. 0 comments

The Israeli Zionist-capitalist elite start to feel that the point of a showdown is nearing fast. They already realized the total backup of the US is diminishing due to the change in its global interests and diminishing of its power... but it still gambling that dragging time may increase their gains in the sphere of lands grabbing and domination on the future Palestinian state. However, the painful understanding that they will not get all that they demanded all the time since the Oslo agreement is already here. The Palestinian ruling elites in the west bank and in Gaza too are on their compromising road as the Fatah old guard and the Hamas are now contemplating sharing the spoils. The joint struggle which contribute its share to the world wide mounting pressure on Israel to compromise continue in spite of the increasing pressure of Israel to put end to it.

textPalestine-Israel, Though it seems lot of things are going to change soon - it is in a slow motion* 03:26 Wed 23 Apr by Ilan S. 0 comments

The prolonged status quo between the Israeli ruling elite and the Palestinian elite reach a climax. Changes in the balances of power within the Israeli capitalist elite is still in slow motion, but you can feel the vibrations. The joint struggle of the Palestinian grass root activists and the Israeli radicals is not expanding, but the new wave of total refusnic military service of Israeli youth - which already passed the hundred seems promising. The joint struggle in Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, Sheikh Jarah, South Hebron Hills, Arkib (within Israel) and other places from time to time keep the flame in spite of the harsh repression. The involvement of Israeli Jews and to a lesser measure international activists still prevent a massive bloody massacre of the unarmed Palestinian demonstrators. [Italiano]

textPalestine-Israel The struggle and the joint struggle continue in spite of the stand still* 12:34 Mon 14 Apr by Ilan S. 0 comments

May be it is because the Arabic Spring and the wave in the developed countries raised too much the hopes for change followed by disillusions. May be it was (like the big wave in Israel that mobilized about 10% of the population) a kind of releasing pressure valve... The struggle still continue, but the number of participants diminished and the moral of those who continue is not high. The smaller flame of hope for a radical change in our tortured home land is nourished by the change in the imperial power balance, the gradual withdrawal of the US from the region and the increasing pressure for change by Europe with the B.D.S. at its front. But, the joint struggle continue, and the gradual bunt out of many of the old timer activists of the anarchists against the wall is partly replaced by the new wave of total refusnics of mandatory military service for high school graduates and the activists of the anarchist-communist Ahdut. The Kobane resistance that has passed its 45th day as of now has caused the attention of revolutionaries all over the world to turn to Rojava. As a result of the work carried out by Revolutionary Anarchist Action (DAF), anarchist comrades from many parts of the world have sent messages of solidarity to the Kobane resistance.(1) This internationalist stance without a doubt carries great importance for the people resisting in Kobane. However if we do not analyze what is happening in all its truth and if we romanticize instead, our dreams will turn to disappointment in short order.

imageHorizons for the Syrian revolution May 23 by Mazen Kalmamaz 0 comments

The main features of the Syrian revolution are its youthful, spontaneous aspect, and the fact that it was created on the streets and is linked directly to the people. It is a revolution without centralized control, led by insurgent individuals. Consequently, no-one can claim to govern it or lead and the reason is simple: the young insurgents rose up spontaneously and there are no signs of participation by religious elements, whose ideas are extremely reactionary, or indeed by any other tendency. Ahmad Husam Yousef Mousa, 10 years old, was murdered yesterday as he demonstrated together with his friends against the separation wall which is being constructed on the lands of his village Ni'ilin. When Ahmad and his friends reached the construction site the soldiers shot rubber bullets at them and they began to
retreat. At that point one of the soldiers shot a live round at Ahmad's head from a distance of about 10 meters.
