Bab Al Shams (the gate of the Sun) is a one step higher of the non-armed direct actions the joint comity of the villages popular comities involved in. The political parties that marginally support the struggle failed to co-opt it so far. The creativity of the joint comity rouse to an higher level in this action, forcing the Israeli state to disregard its pretension of law and order, and acted against its own higher court and destroyed the camp. The world media was "recruited" again to promote the non violent struggle against the occupation. In each village where weekly demos are done, few of the activist were left behind to keep the joint struggle going. [Italiano]

Bab Al Shams

Popular Comities project. Dozens of Palestinians established on Friday an outpost in E1 between Jerusalem a Maale Edomim and did "Not left the area". The activists, who brought with them equipment and established long stay 25 tents, have stated that they intend to expand the permanent settlement: "we will hold this village stubbornly".

"Hundreds of Palestinians have established this morning (Friday) outpost in E1 , which they call the "Bab al-Shams" (Sun Gate). The activists, who brought with them equipment, long stay, established 25 permanent tents and said that they intended to expand the initial settlement and turn it into a permanent settlement. Police force came to the area but have not yet decided what to do activists staying there."

"Abdullah Abu Rahma, a prominent figure Palestinian struggle, said the call for the establishment of the outpost began more than a month ago, particularly among Palestinians in the neighborhoods and communities whose lands are at risk of expropriation for the construction of new settlements. Among the others there were involved activists from Hattori, Issawiya, Abu Dis, and Anata Alaizrih.
One of the organizers, Mohammed Khatib, said: "It is a symbolic act, but a response to the intended Israeli settlement. We send a message to the international community to take immediate action to stop the settlement of Israel."

With the establishment of the tents, the group gave the following statement: "We, the sons and daughters of Palestine, announce the establishment of the village of Bab al-Shams (Gate of the Sun), by order of the people, without a permit from the occupation, without asked permission from anyone, that this land is our land and the it is our right to build."

The name of the Palestinian outpost in E1 taken from the novel "Bab al-Shams" authored by Elias Khoury. The book describes the story of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon after the 1948 War.

It also said in a statement that "we build the village as we can no longer remain silent on the continued construction of settlements and the theft of our land, and we believe direct action and popular resistance will achieving our goals. We are committed to hold this village stubbornly, not leaving it, until the Palestinians will regain full ownership rights on This land. "

According to the activists, "for decades, the governments of Israel would created facts on the ground, while the international community continued to be silent. It is time to change the rules of the game. Now we are determining the facts on the ground, the land of ours. Action, in which participated women and men from north and the south, organized by the popular committees. In the coming days we will hold here workshops and discussions, cultural events and art, as well as film screenings." http://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/1...n.jpg

Palestinian Village of Bab Al-Shams Remains Steadfast. In the face of blatant eviction threats by Netanyahu and under Israeli army siege, the village of Bab Al shams continues to stand boldly.

Saturday

Israeli army and police have been laying siege to the newly founded Palestinian village of Bab Al shams since earlier today, blocking all roads leading to it. The area has been declared a closed military zone. The village was inaugurated yesterday on Palestinian land, East of Jerusalem, in an area referred to by Israel as E1, and designated for the expansion of Ma’ale Edomim settlement.

Despite the siege, roughly a hundred supporters from across Palestine managed to reach the village, trekking through rocky terrain. Earlier today, Abdallah Abu Rahmah of the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee said, "Israel has been defying international law for decades by building illegal settlements on stolen land and demolishing Palestinian homes. We are here to say that Israeli impunity must end. We have the right to build and live on our own land”.

This morning the residents of the village where notified by Israeli police that they will be evicted despite an injunction issued by the Israeli High Court, prohibiting demolition of the village for six days. The officers informed residents that the injunction only forbids the removal of village structures, not their inhabitants. Despite this statement, Israeli government has appealed to the court to revoke the injunction. As growing numbers of Israeli forces amass in the vicinity of the village, seemingly preparing to carry out an eviction, the residents of Bab Al shams stand firm in their resolution to hold on to the land.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers prevented Palestinian legislators Hannan Ashrawi, Saeb Arekat and Ahmed Majdalani from reaching the village and confiscated Majdalani's VIP card.
Famed Lebanese writer, Elias Khury, author of the epic novel Bab Al shams after which the village is named, phoned the residents earlier today to express his support. "You have revived Bab Al-Shams", he said, "I wish I were there with you."

On Sunday, at 3am, About 500 Israeli Forces started the evacuation. "Israeli security forces evacuate activists from Palestinian tent outpost in E-1 area

Dozens of Palestinians and pro-Palestinian activists (Israelis and internationals) got a asphyxia after inhaling the Israeli tear gas bombs in Bil'in that were fired by the IDF on their weekly demonstration against the settlements and the Apartheid wall.

Nabi Saleh

During the weekly demonstration in Nabi Saleh, the IOF attempted to suppress the protest using putrid skunk water and barrages of rubber coated steel bullets and tear gas just as the demonstration started.
"We tried to reach the spring but IOF attacked us and we had a long argument with them then they began to hit us with their guns". Activists report that the demo in Nabi Saleh while small this week (due to the weather) was very energetic.
Seven solidarity activists (international and Israeli with the anarchists against the wall) were arrested in the pretext of entering a 'closed military zone.' A few protesters were injured by rubber bullets, one of whom (Mutaz Tamimi) sustained an injury to his face and was taken to hospital for medical treatment after a long delay as the Zionist soldiers forbid the ambulance from approaching the area to treat him. Dozens suffocated from the tear gas.

L. R. updates: "the Israeli police is deliberately holding the 5 Israeli and 2 internationals activists detainees from Nabi Saleh Friday demo outside in the freezing cold, no doubt as some form of punishment for supporting Palestinians.
The occupation forces let go the last one of us around midnight. I was released into a very cold night, but warm hugs, and juice and falafel. It was cold (especially in the long hours in which we were held outside), and long (especially after they'd let everyone else out, and I sat there on my own, wondering whether I might be the only one spending the night) and boring (I read most of the Friday issue of Israel Today, solved a word puzzle with Michal and read half of Camus, the Plague), but it was a relatively easy arrest and I think we're all more or less fine. The Israelis amongst us got a two weeks restraining order from Nabi Saleh. The internationals are summoned to the airport on Sunday, and we hold our fingers crossed hoping that they won't be deported. Thanks so much to all of you who supported from outside, and no less to those who supported from the inside.

Palestinian activists claim the use by the Israeli security forces of a foul-smelling liquid, dubbed “the skunk”, against protesters and, in some instances, private homes, may be putting lives at risk.
Last Friday, January 4th, Israeli border police directed the skunk at the home of the Tamimi family in the Israeli-occupied West Bank village of Nabi Saleh, following the weekly protest against Israeli land confiscation.
A photographer recorded an Israeli tanker spewing the putrid liquid over the home of a Palestinian family. A border police spokesman, Supt Shai Hakimi, told The Irish Times that the spray was aimed at Palestinian stone-throwers on the roof of the building.

However, no such individuals can be seen in the photograph.

“The Israeli forces have targeted my home in Nabi Saleh dozens of times. On one occasion the powerful jet spray broke a window and also the television which was next to my seven-year-old son. The chemicals in the skunk destroy the furniture and no amount of cleaning can get rid of the stench.”

The comments by the border police spokesman were challenged by Haim Schwarczenberg, the Israeli photographer who witnessed the incident.

“There were no stone-throwing youths on the roof of the house that I saw,” he told The Irish Times last night. “This is not the first time this skunk liquid has been sprayed on people’s homes and not the first time I have witnessed how the Israeli authorities collectively punish the people of this village.”

The residents of Nabi Saleh, a small village of less than 600 residents, north west of Ramallah, have hosted weekly protests for almost four years against land confiscation by the nearby Jewish settlement of Halamish.

The election which was a response to rebellion in the elite - threatening to restrict his daily newspaper - resulted in a partial defeat. He is dependant now on the support of the center-right party and the orthodox parties, and now he is trying desperately to regain control. The mounting pressure on Israel threatens to take a fast escalation. It is already expressed in the threat to expel Israel from FIFA and of intervention of the Hague Court. The French initiative in the UN security council is approaching. The escalation in transfer actions - both within Israel and the West Bank is an effort to recruit at least the support of orthodox parties and the extreme right. In spite of harsher efforts to repress the Palestinian struggle - both in occupied east Jerusalem and the popular non-armed struggle the struggle continues. The very optimistic activists already feel the approaching victory.

The B.D.S. which intensify the pressure not only worry the Israeli elite - it already caused a split in it. The split expressed in the initiation of law against the Netaniahu daily caused him to dismantle his coalition and call for election. The result was even worse for him. He lost the majority of the hard core right. The 61 (versus 59) coalition was achieved only with Kakhlon center-right that already blocked the main rightist moves and some of the extreme neoliberal tendency. A new power balance in the Israeli elite may result with a near future coalition with the pseudo left party Zionist List or even entirely different coalition without Netaniahu or even without the Licud party. With this back ground, transfer of Palestinians intensify - both citizens of Israel and in the occupy west bank... And the repression and struggle continue in Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nebi Saleh, Qadoom, Ma'asarah, Sheikh Jarrah, South Hebron Hills and sporadicly in other places. [Italiano]

With the conviction that our main contribution is not so much in changes on the ground but in the spirit of the struggle of the participants and the fulcrum we provide to the international lever. The gradual increase in international pressure which the Israeli high court verdict is that is a criminal act for Israeli to promote causing already much of damages in the economy of occupation and concern of the Zionist-colonialist Israeli ruling Elite. We see here again how small number of activists can initiate a turn in the course of history when it is applied in the ripe cross-road. It started in a small joint camp in Masha 2003 for struggle against the separation fence, after the idea raised half a year earlier in the European People Global Action conference in Leiden - in which activists from the East of the Mediterranean region participated too. The camp initiated struggles in various villages that riped at 2005 in the Bil'in struggle... which expanded and expanded...

The frustrated Israeli state force who do not dare to prevent the weekly non armed popular demonstrations - Joined and purely of Palestinians, resort to shooting on demonstrators with frequent use of live fire by snippers. In the annexed regions of Jerusalem they no more pretend it is not an occupied area and apply there the occupation procedures - both in treatment of detaining children and houses demolition. The "hot" areas of the popular non armed struggle gradually expand but still far away from a general uprising. The international popular struggle worry the Israeli elite but the damages to the Israeli economy is still in the margins. It seems the Zionist settler colonialist elite which bribed the tycoons section of the capitalist elite with extreme neo liberal measures cannot do it any more as other sections of the capitalist elite (backers of Cakhlon) rebelled.

The merger between the Zionist leadership and the capitalist elite which started 1948 picked in the Tycoons dominance, at 20010. The "too successful" neo-liberalism was challenged by the social struggle, conflicts within the capitalist elite and threatened by international pressure yielded the diminishing power of the old order when the right lost its absolute power in the parliament depending now on the opponent of the milder Zionist right (Kachlon). It is not sure how fast the retreat in the neo-liberal trend and the defeat of the Tycoons combined with the international pressure will yield also retreat in the advance of the Zionist settler and transfer effort. Mean time the joint struggle continue in Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nebi Saleh, Kadum, Ma'asarah, Southern Hebron Hills, Sheikh Jarrah, the Bedouins of the south, Dahamsh... with additional locations from time to time. The minimal pressure of the imperial power on Israel to soften its pressures applied to the would be transfered Palestinians of the 1967 occupied areas have its results (more in the west bank than in the Gaza Ghetto). The about 100.000 Palestinians of the occupied territories are employed by Israelis. Most of the roadblocks were removed. The rebellion of the Palestinians in the west bank is channeled mostly through a small minority of activists in the joint and separate week end activities. People are like holding their breath to see if the culminated crisis in the international arena will yield a significant break throw. Mean time, the persistent week end struggles - though in a diminished intensity in Bil'in, Ma'asara, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, South of Hebron Hills, Sheik Jarrah... with sporadic struggles in other locations. The approaching victory in the struggle to block the advance of the Zionist settler colonialist project and even to force it to retreat a bit do not make the real good people to like the enrolling of history. The approaching defeat make the Israeli elite take desperate steps and do its atrocities in the open. The efforts to transfer the Bedouins within 1948 borders and villagers in 1967 occupied territories escalate. The diminishing support of Israel by the imperial power due to changes in the dynamics of the region, world public opinions and economic losses it cause gradually change the power balance within the Israeli capitalist elite that may be expressed in the coming elections. On the ground, the joint struggle in Bil'in, Ni'lin, Ma'sara, Nebi Saleh, Sheikh Jarrah, Qaddum, and South Of Hebron Hills, is gradually expanding to other locations even without the "shield" of Israeli activists. The old world order, in which US interests in the region East of the Mediterranean let Israel - a bastion of the US - continue with its Zionist settler colonialist in the 1967 occupied Palestine, has ended. Europe has started to advance its own interests, which are not in accord with the Israeli bastion. The independent steps of Europe are enhanced by its public opinion against Israeli colonialism to which the joint struggle in the West Bank contributes a lot. It was the approach of the imminent crisis that forced the Israeli Prime minister to call for elections, to save himself from the normally-timed election when the crisis would be the main agenda. The murder of the Palestinian minister of the popular struggles has focused attention on the ferment and rising of the popular non-armed struggles of which Israel is contemplating suppression with systematic use of live ammunition. Israel was built mainly by the national socialists who owned 75% of the economy in 1949. Due to dependence on the imperial powers the so-called socialist elite invested a lot in building the Zionist-capitalist elite to which it lost power in 1977. Conflicts of interest within the Zionist-capitalist elite started to change the balance between the small tycoons section that supported the Zionist wish to transfer the Palestinians out and the capitalist section that integrated in the neo-liberal globalization who wish to exploit the Palestinians and the workers of neighboring countries. The restructuring of power relations in global capitalism after the last crisis had its Israeli expression in the near-bankruptcy of the tycoon elite and the present collapse of the government coalition. The economic damage which has already resulted from the B.D.S. campaign which is enhanced by the joint struggle seems to be hastening a shift in the balance of powers.

The Kobane resistance that has passed its 45th day as of now has caused the attention of revolutionaries all over the world to turn to Rojava. As a result of the work carried out by Revolutionary Anarchist Action (DAF), anarchist comrades from many parts of the world have sent messages of solidarity to the Kobane resistance.(1) This internationalist stance without a doubt carries great importance for the people resisting in Kobane. However if we do not analyze what is happening in all its truth and if we romanticize instead, our dreams will turn to disappointment in short order.

The main features of the Syrian revolution are its youthful, spontaneous aspect, and the fact that it was created on the streets and is linked directly to the people. It is a revolution without centralized control, led by insurgent individuals. Consequently, no-one can claim to govern it or lead and the reason is simple: the young insurgents rose up spontaneously and there are no signs of participation by religious elements, whose ideas are extremely reactionary, or indeed by any other tendency. Ahmad Husam Yousef Mousa, 10 years old, was murdered yesterday as he demonstrated together with his friends against the separation wall which is being constructed on the lands of his village Ni'ilin. When Ahmad and his friends reached the construction site the soldiers shot rubber bullets at them and they began to
retreat. At that point one of the soldiers shot a live round at Ahmad's head from a distance of about 10 meters.
