Badly Paid? Overworked? Foreign? Time to Organise!

A group of us FAU-IAA members living in Berlin who do not speak German as a native language have recently been organising a foreign workers working group, we hail from countries including Greece, England, Ireland, Canada, Sweden, Spain etc. We are organising our first public event and we'd encourage any interested parties resident in Berlin to attend and anyone with connections with interested parties in Berlin to publicise the event.

Being an immigrant to a new country where you do not speak the native language fluently can be a nerve-wracking experience, you're open to exploitation by bosses, landlords and state officials and finding a way to fight back, not least to change the world can be difficult. So let's get together!

Topics covered will include:

  • Why join a union?
  • Why join the Free Workers' Union (FAU)?
  • Why is the FAU not just another union?
  • What makes a syndicalist union different?
  • How is the FAU organised?
  • All this and more...
The event will be held at 20:00 on July 6th 2012 at Lottumstrasse 11, 10119 Berlin, (nearest U-Bahn U2 Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz/ U8 Rosenthaler-Platz), if you are interested but can't make it then email: faub@fau.org

Also please find the attached flyer!

fotogericht.jpg imageDeal With It! The FAU Berlin Can Call Itself a Union 16:00 Mon 14 Jun by FAU 1 comments

About 50 people gathered in the biggest hall of Berlin's Higher Court on the morning of June 10th. They were waiting for the decision on the FAU Berlin's appeal on whether they could call themselves a union. Only 15 minutes into the trial, the judge delivered the verdict. The injunction is overturned; the ban is repealed; the crowd goes wild.
