Towards the Brazilian Anarchist Coordination!
In early 2002 a more lucid nationwide process for organized, socially involved anarchism was begun in Brazil. Ten years ago the Fórum do Anarquismo Organizado (FAO) was created with the aim of coordinating regional groups and also of seeking to build a Brazilian anarchist organization endowed with a common political project. We have contributed modestly to putting anarchism back onto the terrain of the class struggle, forming part of several important struggles in urban and rural areas with a presence in various places throughout the country. Currently, with an active presence and influence in over ten Brazilian states, we have decided to take a step forward in the process with the creation of the nationwide Coordenação Anarquista Brasileira (CAB - Brazilian Anarchist Coordination). We are not merely creating another acronym or just the appearance of an existence, with no correspondence on the ground. On the contrary, we have decided in favour of a coordination of especifist anarchist organizations, as we need an organizational approach that is equal to our capacity and need to intervene in the Brazilian reality with a real prospect to work in favour of a socialist, libertarian project in society.
This year, 2012, we will be holding an Anarchist Congress with delegates from the various regional organizations, which will found the CAB; we will be inviting national and international anarchist organizations to participate in the following events to be held in the city of Rio de Janeiro:
