In the tempest of words that generate action, dreams, ideas and proposals, the young comrades of the Red Libertaria Popular Mateo Kramer successfully held its 6th General Assembly. Two days of hard collective work, vegan food, effective solidarity and confidence in the potential we have as young people to be, together with other men and women, a part of the transformation of this country. In this regard, we reaffirm once again that in order to change the established order where plunder, criminalization, repression and inequality rule, the people must continue to mobilize and organize themselves, strengthening the bonds of unity between different sectors and regions, in order to build a comprehensive proposal for the country so that we can live with dignity. Political Statement by the 6th General Assembly of the Red Libertaria Popular Mateo Kramer

We believe that in order to accomplish this, the youth must accept some serious challenges. We are the makers and shapers of a new future, and therefore it is necessary to think in a much broader way of how to articulate the social and political movement. For this, we young people must continue to expand our horizons of participation so that, politically, we can build a much more organized, comprehensive and effective project on a national level. These are some of the conclusions arrived at in this Assembly, in which the 14 groups that make up the Red Libertaria Popular Mateo Kramer reached the following general agreements:

  • The RLPMK will continue its campaign for the de-control of our lives, in order to continue fighting against the militarization of life in the Bacatá. region We believe that as young people it is imperative that we organize against obligatory military service, the repression of young people, the new security-obsessed policies in the city, imperialism and its military bases, and we will support calls for conscientious objection, for decent living standards and for the unity of Latin American people, always from a perspective that breaks with patriarchy.

  • The RLPMK confirms its participation in the Coordinadora Juvenil 3 de Octubre, which serves to strengthen the bonds of unity with the aim of building popular power among the youth in the Bacatá region. We thus reaffirm our willingness to fight for decent living standards and against the criminalization of young people, for the sovereignty and conservation of the environment and against the gringo military bases, for countercultural expression and counter-information, against the militarization of life, for dignified work and against the casualization of labour for young people, for high-quality secondary education and access to higher education, for the anti-patriarchal and feminist struggle.

  • The RLPMK will continue to work in the Congreso de los Pueblos as Coordinator, promoting the issue of militarization and other youth problems, as well as moving forward the construction of a nationwide proposal for a decent life.

  • The RLPMK confirms its participation, agains as Coordinator, in the Minga Bacatá in order to further strengthen the process of unity in the city-region, and the Minga Juvenil, in order to build a youth mandate with others.

  • The RLPMK reaffirms the need to continue meeting with other young people in the country in order to achieve higher levels of articulation that can allow the youth movement to act more forcefully as part of the social transformation of this country.
