On Saturday August 13th, from 10am-6pm, there will be an Anarchist Bookfair (http://amelbournebookfair.org/) at Abbotsford Convent (http://www.abbotsfordconvent.com.au/).

Stalls of book sellers and activist groups will be accompanied by workshops and skillshares on climate justice, DIY, permaculture, education, gender and refugee issues, and much more! The convent itself also includes other attractions such as art spaces, bars and restaurants.

Would you like to be part of this event? Reach a thinking, engaged, book and ideas hungry audience with your books, information, and other merchandise and promote yourself to this group. We hope to attract over 500 people.

Stalls are tables (1.8m x 0.6m - provided by us) and located in the beautiful surrounds of the Community and Linen rooms. Please book ASAP as stalls will be allocated in strict order of payment, so go to our website for further information, to see the stall map, and submit your request: http://amelbournebookfair.org/stalls

Payments ($70 for-profit enterprise, $40 not-for-profit enterprise/activist group) are due by June 30th so that we can then finalise our budget and spend more money on publicity. Limited advertising is also available in the A5 programme booklet that will be distributed on the day (8 quarter-programme-page ads @ $50 each).

We are a not-for-profit bunch of volunteers and all money received will go on venue, equipment hire, and publicity (postcards, café posters, larger posters on campuses and in select inner city locations). We are committed to financial transparency and on the website you can view our projected budget (http://amelbournebookfair.org/about#budget).

The bookfair will also host workshops, skillshares, and a kids' space. We have already had much demand for these but if you are interested in running one please contact us (http://amelbournebookfair.org/contact).

The idea for this event came from various Anarchist Bookfairs around the world. In London an Anarchist Bookfair (http://www.anarchistbookfair.org.uk/) which has been a successful event attended by thousands of politically engaged and radical groups and people for almost thirty years. Each year the stalls are quickly sold out to independent book sellers, activist groups and other radical enterprises promoting their ideas and selling merchandise.

In solidarity,

Viola Wilkins for A Melbourne Bookfair
