Los Angeles film screenings next Thursday, Friday & Saturday!‏

Dear friends, comrades and Angelinxs, You are cordially invited to come check out a film screening a group of us have been organizing. It would be great if you and your friends could come see it, as it has been the arduous work by the Subversive Action Films collective, whose scheduled LA/OC screenings are part of the West Coast tour of this documentary titled The Chicago Conspiracy. In a nutshell, this documentary takes its title from the 25 Chilean students who went to the University of Chicago, studied under the tutelage of Milton Friedman and then returned to assist Pinochet’s military regime in imposing free market policies.

The Chicago Conspiracy

The film is about diverse social movements in Chile as they developed under the Pinochet dictatorship (1973-1990) and the present articulations of social struggles by students, self-organized working class neighborhoods, the indigenous Mapuches, as they fight the privatization of their surroundings, neoliberalism, oblivion, memory, repression, and authoritarianism.
A member of Subversive Action Films will be present at the screenings for a Q&A session and will also put up a photographic exhibition of social struggles in Chile. There are 2 screenings in colleges and 2 in community spaces. If you are unable to check out the film at UCLA or Pitzer, we highly encourage you come to Lynwood or Santa Ana to watch the film, participate in a chat with the director, enjoy some food, socializing and networking. There will be zines, literature, music and other documentaries for sale/trade.
