The real slap will be on the streets!

The results of these regional elections, marked by a very high rate of voter abstention and the defeat of the right, illustrates the distrust more and more people feel towards "representative" democracy and reflects a rejection of the policies of Nicolas Sarkozy and his government.

Faced with an authoritarian power that is implementing social destruction, witchunts against immigrants, and division, particularly in the debate on the national identity, we need a powerful social movement that does not rely on a change of personnel among politicians but confronts the ruling classes and the bosses, and sets out an alternative to capitalism. And we certainly have nothing to hope for in the majority of the "leftists" elected to the regional councils. Indeed, while the right is preparing a new large-scale attack against the popular classes with its pension reform, the major parties of the institutional left, the Socialist Party and Europe Écologie [1], agree with the principle of extending the retirement age.

To oppose the ongoing reforms, confront capitalism and the parties who serve it, we can only rely on ourselves and our capacities to act. Many social mobilizations are underway or in preparation: in defence of pensions, against redundancies, for the regularization of undocumented migrants, for women's rights, etc. Alternative Libertaire calls to join them and spread them.
