An introductory workshop to the ideas and practice of Anarchist Communism This Saturday, at the invitation of some anarchist militants from the Landless People's Movement (LPM) the Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Front (ZACF) will be facilitating a Red and Black Forum (popular education workshop) on the ideas and practice of anarchist communism. The RBF will serve as a broad introduction to anarchism for Landless People's Movement activists from the Protea South informal settlement in Soweto. It is also intended to serve as a tool to draw new activists from the LPM into the ZACF-facilitated bi-weekly anarchist study circle in Orlando, Soweto. This will be the second RBF that the ZACF has facilitated in Protea South at the request of the LPM this year. The first being around the theme Does the Vote Bring Democracy?, which took place in March. |

This is an unfair move by the university so close to the registration period. It means an additional burden on students from one of the poorest and most authoritarian states in the world, many of whom come from poor backgrounds and study in South Africa not out of choice but necessity. Spring zu Komment: 1 2 3 4 5Good news, comrades, and I hope it goes well. Looking forward to reading about how it went!
Unfortunately this RBF has been postponed due to the terrible weather we are currently having in Johannesburg. Days of rain are likely to have flooded the community hall in which the workshop was to take place, and it is very likely that much fewer people would attend the workshop in these conditions. It is yet to be confirmed, but the RBF will probably take place next week, provided it doesn't clash with other activities of the LPM and ZACF.
Nice! Any chance you could record the talk and post it online afterward?
We could try, but the workshop will have to be translated into isiZulu or seSotho, so it may not be very helpful for audiences abroad, unless we can just edit all the English parts together. We also would try to make it as interactive as possible, which presents the technical difficulty of being able to properly record the audiences' input. Depending how much work it is it may be viable, but I don't consider it a priority if it is going to take much time. Perhaps a better idea than recording the workshop would be getting someone to read it out specifically for a recording.. I'll look see if anyones interested in doing that.
This RBF will be taking place tomorrow, Saturday 28 November, in the same location.
