Kurdistan Solidarity press release!

Kurdish community in Ireland goes on a protest on Wednesday 18 November at 14.00 outside of Iranian Embassy to condemn the execution of Ihsan Fattahina and to stop execution of another 11 Kurdish human right activists including Sherko Moarefi.

On Wednesday 11 November Mr. Ihsan Fattahian a Kurdish political activist was executed by the Iranian regime. He was charged as an "enemy of God". Although a long international campaign for his life started but ended with the news of his death. Now Shirko Moarefi another Kurdish human rights activist charged as being an “enemy of God” and sentenced to death. Mr. Moarefi is 30 years old and was detained in October 2008. On 12 November he was transferred to the solitary confinement in preparation for his execution.

Within the last thirty years of the reign of the Islamist regime in Iran the Kurdish people have been harshly subjugated to oppression and execution, and this bitter truth has never been hidden from the international community. Although on many occasions, these heinous acts were treated with contempt and revulsion, they have never been able to draw a line for the Islamist regime in Iran to refrain from inflicting such horrendous acts in daylight against the Kurdish people.

As a result, this regime has been determined to shed the blood of this people without hesitation and constraint, and has devastated their livelihood and spread grief and misery in families across the country. Although this trend is common nation-wide, in Kurdistan it is much more prevalent and barbaric. A day does not go by without the blood of a Kurd by the oppressive apparatus of this regime. What is the charge against the Kurds? Why the Kurds are subjected to such a blatant violation of the human rights?

We as the Kurdish community in Ireland strongly condemn the execution of Ihsan Fattahina and urge the Iranian authority to stop the execution of Mr. Shirkouh Moarefi and 11 others. We would also urge the Iranian regime to review the death penalty in light of International Human Rights Law.

May peace be upon Ehsan Fattahian and all the martyrs of freedom and liberation of Kurdistan.
