A new anarchist blog has been launched for the specific purpose of analyzing local political developments in the Blue Ridge / Potomac Highlands region of the southeastern United States.

We have chosen as our symbol a modified Confederate Battle Flag. This is in the tradition of the Young Patriots, radical Leftist allies of the Black Panthers who, being comprised mostly of working-class Appalachian whites, adopted the Confederate Battle Flag underlying the communist black star as their logo. We have removed the 13 white stars, in recognition that the genocidal, imperialist C.S.A. appropriated the St. Andrew's Cross, a traditional symbol of Scotch-Irish resistance, and have added a red-and-black star to signify our commitment to the libertarian communist project as the only immediate solution to our region's myriad social problems. In creating this blog we hope to raise an awareness that working-class, Appalachian whites are oppressed and colonized by global capitalist system, just like our sisters and brothers within the Black, Latino, and American Indian communities, and must stand with them in declaring our autonomy from global imperialism.

Our first entry is a critical reaction to the news that an I.C.E. immigrant detention center is being built in Brandywine, West Virginia:
