[Português] Message to the Founding Congress of the Brazilian Anarchist Co-ordination (CAB) 14:51 Mon 04 Jun 0 comments In the days of June, in Rio de Janeiro, organised anarchism in Brazil will experience its greatest contemporary historical event. The Anarchist Congress, that will bring together groups from about 10 states across the country in debates, agreements and resolutions to act with common principles and tactics on the Brazilian reality, has a very special significance. Our conviction, in a more than 10 year process, says that militant anarchism holds indispensable contributions to the struggles for anti-capitalist social change. The meeting of militant forces that embody the same concept of work in co-ordination is a fundamental step in the journey of building political organisation that doesn’t just start now. What are the criteria that define the social classes? Which are the social classes? Are there dominant and oppressed classes? How can class struggle be defined? What is bureaucracy? How does it relate to other social strata? These are some of the questions the text tries to answer. In this text, we present a first contribution, with a few elements for a historical reconstitution of our current, that is, anarchism of the especifista matrix, in Brazil. We hope that other contributions can help boost it or, possibly, correct the information presented here. Towards a Libertarian Theory of Power - part 2 Jul 12 0 comments "Towards a Libertarian Theory of Power" is a series of elaborated reviews about books or articles by authors from the libertarian camp who discuss power. Its objective is to present a contemporary literature of authors who treat the theme in question and contribute elements for the elaboration of a libertarian theory of power, that could contribute to the elaboration of a method of analysis of reality and of strategies of libertarian basis, to be utilised by individuals and organisations. I think the US and Brazilian anarchist movements have a lot in common (regional organizations seperated by huge areas).
So i'm wondering, is the FAO actively becoming more organized? How much politics are shared by FAO members/groups? How long do the participants think it will be before that FAO becomes an organized group?
Hi Oliver,
At present the Brazilian anarchist-communist/especifista movement consists of groups based, not regionally, but in single cities. The FAO initiative (which is ongoing for already 3 years) is an attempt first of all to encourage regional or inter-regional links between these groups, leading in the future to the creation of a national federation. However, the impressive thing as far as I am concerned, is that they are going about this in a very calm, methodical way (considering it's taken them 3 years even to come up with this "official" document!).
Creaing networks of groups in different places is a job that takes a lot of time, so it is good to see the comrades in Brazil not rushing into anything just for the sake of it.

hey comrades, , the letter of intentions of the FAO is a recent document and shows the level we are at here. We are at a moment of aggregation of new militant groups and as well as of teorica quarrel [theoretical debate?]. We work in the long run for the construction of the anarchic federation in Brazil therefore still we have many things to make right and to learn. The first step already was given and is very animad@s [animated?] with this process. Fao is organizing regionally (south, north, center-west, northeast and Southeast) and nacionally. abraços... health and anarchy! Anarkism is struggle! montim - collective pro anarchic organization in goiás(region: center-west) - fao - Brazil obs: if somebody to obtain to translate into the English would be legal.
