Sri Lanka: Mass Murder and Genocide happening just in fron of us -Irish Forum for Peace in Sri Lanka

category southern asia | imperialism / war | non-anarchist press author Monday May 18, 2009 18:49author by Irish Forum for Peace in Sri Lanka - Irish Forum for Peace in Sri Lanka Report this post to the editors

Dear Editors and Journalist,

Reports that the Irish Forum for Peace in Sri Lanka receives from the so called ‘Safe Zone’ say around 25,000 civilians injured in the artillery attack of Sri Lanka Army are dead and dying now without receiving medical attention.

8 priests, 3 nuns and hundreds of children are reported to be in bunkers for days not being able to come out due to heavy bombardment by the SL military.

Within a less than 2 square kilometre area, there are dead bodies everywhere while the remaining thousands are in bunkers amidst the use of every kind of weapon by Colombo's forces.

Even though the SL government claims that all the civilians have crossed to its territory this news shows that there are many more civilians in a tiny patch land being surrounded by gun ships, helicopters and soldiers from all other corners. When some of church organisations contacted a priest who is closer to the SL president and made an appeal to save the lives of these civilians the priest seems to have said that he could speak to the President regarding the matter. But he has said that even though the President can contact the Brigade Commanders as the latter are not in the battlefront it will be difficult to contact the soldiers who have surrounded the region. This shows that the soldiers have been given all orders to go for a full onslaught whatever the outcome may be. We know the outcome

The Sri Lankan Forces are not even allowing the people to flee but prefers to fire at them.

The Tamil Tigers have repeatedly requested the ICRC to evacuate the injured, but there was no IC response.

MASS MURDER AND GENOCIDE HAPPENING JUST IN FRONT OF US AND ONLY YOUR ACTION CAN SAVE THESE LIVES

imageKashmir: New Hopes and Aspirations; Is Self-Governance a means towards Self-Determination? Oct 28 by Amit Chakraborty 0 comments

The need of the hour is to initiate the process of conflict resolution for just and sustainable peace. All the conflicting parties should realise that unending conflict, cross firing and belligerency will ultimately peril their interest only. The civil society movement in the subcontinent in should take care so that all the disputing parties in Kashmir come to reasoning and submit before the process of conflict resolution.
